GIMP is an open source (free) graphics tool. It was originally released as a program for printing images on glossy photo paper, but it grew and grew to be as a powerful tool for most digital image manipulation tasks. GIMP is not Photoshop but is highly capable for quick image editing. It is easy to learn but needs some practice to master its many features.

When you purchase a book about digital imaging, the name GIMP usually is mentioned in its title. If you’d like to check out some of GIMP’s features, visit their website, which can be found at www.gimp.org, then look for Gimp User Tutorials.

Create Photoshop Elements documents

We recommend that users start with a simple, relatively simple document such as a portrait, a product image or a scene.

Also, it’s best to begin with a document that has only a few layers. Because the program is small, it’s easier for beginners to avoid confusing themselves or making mistakes. If you only have one layer, you should have an option to replace the layer with a new one.

Once you have created a document, don’t save your document on the computer or publish it. Because the program is simple, you’ll probably make a simple error and lose your work without a backup.

You must save and publish the document from Elements.

Use Adobe Photoshop Elements for editing images

Use Adobe Photoshop Elements to edit images of photographs, videos, and other types of images.

With a few simple clicks, you can replace part of the image with another image, remove unwanted elements, change colors, correct the color balance of the image, add a background to the image, crop the image, and add a text.

2. With a few simple clicks, create a new document or reopen an existing file.

3. Open the image you want to edit.

4. Move the image to your Photoshop Elements interface.

5. Create a new photo or image by clicking on the Create New Image button.

6. Click on the Modify button to access different tools for editing photos.

7. Using the various tools, edit the image you want to use.

8. Once you’ve finished editing, click on the Select button to return to the Insert dialog.

How to do get/set in the sorted list?

I have a sorted list. How to get the IEnumerable back from the linq query?
Since I am sorting MyClass I don’t have the field to get back.
public static class linqExtensions
public static IEnumerable OrderBy(this IEnumerable source, string propertyName, string direction)
var index = 0;
foreach (var item in source)
var value = GetValue(item, propertyName);
if (direction == “ASC”)
index = (index == 0)? -1 : index == (source.Count – 1)? 1 : index + 1;
index = (index == 0)? 1 : index == (source.Count – 1)? 0 : index – 1;
yield return item;

The getvalue method is:
public static object GetValue(object obj, string name)
var type = obj.GetType();
string pName = name.Replace(“.”, “_”);
var prop = type.GetProperty(pName, BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.Instance);
if (prop!= null)
var casted = prop.GetValue(obj);
if (casted == null &&!typeof(Nullable).IsAssignableFrom(type))
casted = (System.Nullable)(object)prop.GetValue(obj) as System.Nullable;

Activity of a body (in terms of work done on the body)

I have been reading about the concept of an “activity” of a body. Let me explain:
Intuitively, it seems that the energy a body “absorbs” should be proportional to the activity of the body. (Or maybe that would be energy that the body absorbs?)
In the book Classical Mechanics and Applications of Lie groups to Mechanics and Quantum Field Theory, a bunch of exercises dealing with the center of mass require one to compute the energy of a system of body $\Omega$ with respect to a reference system, which in general is not $\Omega$.
To compute this energy, the book gives these steps (paraphrased, which is probably not that far off):
“We observe that the energy $U$ of the body does not appear in the kinetic energy of the center of mass $\textbf{r}_\text{CM}$ (the gravitational potential energy does not appear in the kinetic energy either).”
“Then, $U$ is a priori arbitrary and so we assume it to be infinity, which is far more than the classical limit”
“Now, by integrating $\textbf{F}$ with respect to the center of mass, we get the following (only the first line of the result is repeated here):
$$U=\int\limits_{\Omega} \textbf{F} \cdot d\textbf{r}=-\int\limits_{\Omega} \textbf{r}_{CM} \cdot d\textbf{F}$$
$U$ should be an energy of the body with respect to the reference system, which I guess means that it should be the energy the body “absorbs”.
My question is:
How exactly does one go about computing this energy?
And, more importantly,
Is there any way to compute it?

What you may be seeing is the general relationship between internal and kinetic energies, where the kinetic energy of a body is given by an expression involving its linear momentum and its mass (or inertia tensor
